Sea Kayaking       Kayaker in Kenai Fjords.

If you want to experience the many natural wonders of Alaska's coastline then Sea Kayaking is the ultimate choice for adventure. Paddle your way past mountainside cliffs that line the coast and create majestic fjords that in grandeur are second to none in the world. Among these fjords are bays and inlets that hold protected beaches to land your craft, set up camp and explore an unspoiled land that you begin to wonder if you were the first to set foot on. Very near some of these beaches are tidewaters that become the final destination for nearby glaciers that inch there way down from the alpine ice fields high above. As these rivers of ice carve there way down the valleys, pieces of the lower sections eventually lose footing with the rock below and end there journey by separating from the main mass and crashing into the saltwater below. This creates an iceberg laden waterscape that can be seen up close and explored by the kayaker. These icebergs attract large numbers of harbor seals that use them as resting areas and as a safe place to give birth.  Whales and Sea Lions are common sights in area waters and give a clear view of  an untamed wild. Coastal mountains jut straight up out of the sea and hold thousands of sea birds that nest in the safety of vertical cliffs, unreachable to predators. Bald eagles soar along the coastline or await patiently in spruce trees high above the waterline searching for their next meal. Colorful Puffins and other seabirds pop out of the water to catch their breath after feeding underwater on the many baitfish that live in these waters. Anyone who explores this coastline by kayak will know firsthand why it's a national park.
